This second volume collects his first published book of plays, The Angel that Troubled the Waters and Other Plays, with two previously unpublished plays - The Marriage We Deplore and The Unerring Instinct.

Also included are Wilder's last major full-length play, The Alcestiad, with its companion satyr play, The Drunken Sisters; two scenes from his unfinished play, The Emporium, accompanied by his journal entries on the work's progress; and essays by the author and his sister.
