Our Late Night & A Thought In Three Parts: two plays
Paperback £18.99
Two early plays by the cult US playwright, Wallace Shawn.
Our Late Night was first seen in London at the Royal Court Theatre in 1999 in a production directed by Caryl Churchill. It had premiered in New York in 1975 under the direction of André Gregory, where it won an OBIE.
A Thought in Three Parts created an uproar at its 1977 London premiere directed by Max Stafford-Clark, when it was investigated by the police for its allegedly pornographic content.
'Why is sex interesting to write about? ... One reason is that sex is shocking. Yes, it's still shocking, after all these years - isn't that incredible? At least it's shocking to me.' - Wallace Shawn, from his Afterword
'[Our Late Night is] a short play, but a savage one... Neurosis, panic and sexual surreality underlie Shawn’s startling vision of New Yorkers at play'
