Nick Hern Books Playscript Subscriptions – FAQs
What are Nick Hern Books Playscript Subscriptions?
Each month we'll send you (or your chosen recipient) one newly published Nick Hern Books playscript. The playscript will be selected by our expert team, and will have been published by NHB within the last month.
Playscript Subscriptions are available in two formats, in 6-Month and 12-Month packages:
- Paperback: a physical copy of the play, sent direct to your door – these cost £60 and £110 respectively, including postage and packaging (these are only available for delivery to recipients located in the UK)
- Ebook: a digital copy of the play, available to enjoy via the free ereader app Glassboxx on mobile and desktop devices, and in your internet browser – these cost £50 and £90 respectively (these are available worldwide)
How do I buy a Playscript Subscription?
First, select the Subscription you’d like to purchase from the options listed here, and click 'Add to Basket' on that subscription's page.
At checkout, please enter your own contact details for the payment process. If you're buying the subscription for someone else, there's no need to enter the recipient's details at this point – we'll email you separately to request this information.
You will be charged a one-off payment – this is not an automatically renewing Direct Debit.
Once you have completed checkout, you will receive a welcome email with a link for an online form for you to provide the following information:
- the name and contact details of the person the subscription is for
- the delivery details of the recipient (this will be a postal address for paperback subscriptions, and an email address for ebook subscriptions)
- the month you would like the subscription to start
The welcome email will also include an attached Gift Certificate, which you can forward on or print and give to the recipient.
Please allow up to two working days for your welcome email to arrive. We will need the above requested information before your subscription period can commence.
Can I pay for a Playscript Subscription via invoice?
Yes. Select 'Invoice Me' during the checkout process, and we will send you an invoice attached to your welcome email.
Please note: your Subscription must have been paid for before your first month begins. If your invoice is still outstanding, the start of your Subscription will be delayed until it is paid.
How long do Playscript Subscriptions last, and how do I renew?
Playscript Subscriptions come in 6-Month or 12-Month packages. When your Subscription is about to end, we'll write to let you know, and give you the option to renew so you can continue to receive the most exciting new drama.
Are Playscript Subscriptions available internationally?
This depends on the format you’d like to purchase.
Paperback Playscript Subscriptions are only available for delivery to recipients located in the UK, with postage and packaging included in the price of the package.
Ebook Playscript Subscriptions are available to customers located worldwide.

When in the month are the playscripts sent out, and how will I receive them?
The dispatch date of Playscript Subscription copies varies from month to month. This is to enable us to have the broadest and most exciting range of options when selecting plays for our subscribers, as we publish new playscripts almost every week of the year!
If you have a paperback Playscript Subscription, your books will be sent by Royal Mail 2nd Class post. If you have an ebook Playscript Subscription, your plays will be sent directly to your account in the free ereader app Glassboxx – see below for more information on this.
I have an ebook Playscript Subscription. How do I access and read my plays?
Your monthly plays will be available to enjoy via the free ereader app Glassboxx on mobile and desktop devices, and in your internet browser.
You can find the links to download the Glassboxx app here. Once that’s installed, you just need to log in using the email address provided to us by the person who purchased your subscription (whether that was you, or someone else) and your monthly play will be waiting for you in your account. You’ll receive an email each month telling you when your new play is ready to read.
If you have any issues using Glassboxx, please email their friendly support team at help@glassboxx.com.
Can I print my ebooks?
No. Your ebooks are available to read within the Glassboxx app, and cannot be printed out. If you’d like to receive physical copies of the plays, you’ll need to purchase a paperback Playscript Subscription.
I already have the playscript I was sent. Can I swap it for another?
Yes. Exchanges are capped at two playscripts for a 6-Month Subscription, and four playscripts for a 12-Month Subscription.
If you have a paperback Playscript Subscription, you can exchange the playscript for another newly published NHB playscript if the original book is returned to us undamaged.
If you have an ebook Playscript Subscription, we will provide a replacement play direct to your Glassboxx account.
Please email us at subscriptions@nickhernbooks.co.uk to arrange your exchange.
My delivery and / or email address has changed during my subscription period. What should I do?
If any of your subscription details change, please email us at subscriptions@nickhernbooks.co.uk promptly to let us know.
What if I want to cancel my Playscript Subscription?
You are entitled to a 14-day cooling-off cancellation period, starting from the day you purchase your Subscription. You can cancel your subscription for any reason within this period, and receive a full refund. After the 14-day cooling-off period has ended, you will not be able to cancel or end your subscription early.
If you have purchased a paperback Playscript Subscription: as part of the sign-up process, we will ask you to let us know which month you would like the subscription to start. If your first dispatch date falls with your 14-day cooling-off period – for instance, you purchase a Playscript Subscription on 2 January and confirm you'd like it to start that month, and that month's book is scheduled to be dispatched on 10 January - we will send the book as planned. However, if you then choose to cancel your subscription before the end of the cooling-off period you (or your chosen recipient) will need to return that book at your (or your recipient's) expense. If it is not returned within 14 days of notifying us you want to cancel your subscription, the cost of that month’s book and delivery will be deducted from your refund.
If you have purchased an ebook Playscript Subscription: We will remove your access to your first month’s play when we process your refund.
