Diana's order has arrived, but it's not the item she actually ordered – and she's not going to be fobbed off with a partial refund. Somebody has to hold these people to account, even in the midst of a pandemic. Even when you've lost everyone you ever really cared about...

Deborah Bruce's short play Guidesky and I is a funny and poignant drama about loneliness and the opportunity for connection. It was first performed as part of Inside/Outside, a season of short plays staged at, and livestreamed from, the Orange Tree Theatre, Richmond, in March 2021.

It is published in the collection Inside/Outside.

Press Quotes

'Bruce's taught writing recognises the crushing isolation that Diana feels and lays it bare for the audience'

Theatre Weekly

'An altogether moving piece'

Reviews Hub

'A diamond... the beauty of it lies in the compassion it shows for a woman who answers to the maligned stereotype of "crazy old cat lady" but is revealed to be a complex mess of sorrow, aloneness and rightful anger'
