A drug-taking hard man from the city returns home to the Highlands to try to recapture the innocence of his youth.
Ray got away from the far north of Scotland years ago. Went south. Found a new way to live. Now, with his mate from the city in tow, he returns to where it all began, and to the memory of a time when life still kept its promises.
Henry Adam's play Among Unbroken Hearts was first performed at the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh, in 2000. It transferred to the Bush Theatre, London, in 2001, and was joint winner of the 2002 Meyer-Whitworth Award for new writing for the theatre.
'A truly impressive Traverse debut from a dramatist full of skill and courage, and that deep sense of dramatic structure that some writers struggle a whole lifetime to learn'
Scotsman'A beautiful, haunting play'
