The hit Broadway play, filmed in 2008 with Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

A Catholic school in the Bronx, 1964. The strong-minded principal has her suspicions that one of her teaching fathers is abusing vulnerable pupils. But without proof, what action should she take?

John Patrick Shanley's play Doubt: A Parable was originally staged off-Broadway at the Manhattan Theatre Club in November 2004. The production transferred to the Walter Kerr Theatre on Broadway in March 2005.

The play won the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and Tony Award for Best Play.

Press Quotes

'A superb new drama... an inspired study in moral uncertainty within the compellingly certain structure of an old-fashioned detective drama. Even as Doubt holds your attention as an intelligently measured debate play, it sends off the stealth charges that go deeper emotionally'

New York Times

'How splendid it feels to be trusted with such passionate, exquisite ambiguity... Blunt, yet subtle, manipulative but full of empathy for all sides, the play is set in 1964 but could not be more timely'
