A short play about an elderly couple who, trapped in a nursing home, plot a daring escape into the sunshine.

Deirdre Kinahan's Salad Day was first performed as a rehearsed reading at the Abbey Theatre, Dublin, in 2009.

It was later developed and expanded into a full-length play, Halcyon Days, which was premiered at the Dublin Theatre Festival in October 2012.
